(AP)- A violent murder spree and standoff in Michigan is over.
The 34 year old suspect committed suicide late last night- after a manhunt and standoff that lasted eight hours in Grand Rapids.
Rodrick Dantzler is said to have shot and killed 7 people, including his daughter and ex-girlfriend- while killing another child and four others at two different locations.
He then lead police on a high speed chase through town. Two people were shot during that time- but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
While on the run, Dantzler took a total of three people hostage. They're now safe.
It's not clear what Dantzler's motive was.
For several hours during the day- parts of the community were at a near standstill while the search was going on.
