Maryville man charged with three counts of indecent exposure

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Ricky Myers lives on Sevierville Road in Maryville - right next to the Asbury Way Townhouses. People living in those townhouses said Myers likes to stand outside and fondle himself.

"Just every day when he comes in from work and all weekend, you know, he's naked out in the yard," said Shirley Brewster, who lives in one of the townhouses.

Brewster said it's especially disturbing because kids live in the complex.

"I have a five-year-old great granddaughter, and she's over here. And then my granddaughter that lives here with me is 18," she said.

Brewster said it's been happening for at least two years. So did another neighbor, who didn't want to give her name:

"It's getting to be where you don't want to come out. Because he'll be there to do that again," she said.

Workers at the complex said they let the hedge between the townhouses and Myers' yard grow up because they'd gotten so many complaints, but they said Myers recently found a way around that: according to the police report, Myers sprayed weed killer to create a hole in the hedge so neighbors could see him better.

Complex workers said they set up a camera in one of the townhouses and captured video and pictures of Myers touching himself. On Wednesday, Maryville Police charged him with three counts of indecent exposure.

Neighbors said they're hopeful the charges will lead to change.

"I don't want to see him go to jail or anything - just if he would quit. It's scary and it's disrespectful," said Brewster.

"Just want him to keep his pants on," said Cary Brown.

According to the police report, Myers admitted to exposing himself. He'll be in court Tuesday morning.
