Meigs Co. Litter Control Officer Jack "Jackie" Scroggins was arrested Tuesday for solicitation to commit first degree murder.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Meigs Co. official is behind bars for his alleged role in a murder-for-hire scheme to have his girlfriend's ex-husband killed, according to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation release.
Jack "Jackie" Scroggins, 52, was charged with solicitation to commit first degree murder and is being held without bond at Meigs Co. jail. Scroggins served with the Meigs Co. Sheriff's Office for the past six years as Litter Control Officer. He was hired by a previous administration.
The Georgetown man reportedly met with an undercover TBI agent twice to discuss the proposed murder. Scroggins allegedly gave the agent $1,000 as an advance payment and another $100 for a gun.
