Memphis man found guilty of evading taxes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Federal officials in Memphis say a commercial pilot has been convicted of income tax evasion.

William Boyer was found guilty of not paying taxes from 2001-2005. He was convicted on five counts, each of which is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $100,000, according to The Commercial Appeal.

Authorities said Boyer, who is a pilot for FedEx, owes more than $255,000 in taxes, on which he paid nothing. He was also convicted of trying to conceal his income and filing false tax returns.

Boyer's sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
