MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis police have charged a 17-year-old female with reckless homicide in the shooting death of another 17-year-old female.
Police were called to a shooting at a home in east Memphis on Sunday, where they found 17-year-old Sarah Galbraith dead from a gunshot wound.
Police said a preliminary investigation found that the other teenager was clearing a bullet from the chamber of the gun when it fired. The Commercial Appeal reported that the teenager who was charged was in Juvenile Court for a detention hearing on Monday.
Magistrate Sheldon McCall ordered the teen to remain in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center.
