Mom, boyfriend charged with murder of toddler

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knox Co. Grand Jury indicted a mother and her boyfriend on charges stemming from the death of an 18 month-old toddler on earlier this month.

Brittany Stinnett and her boyfriend Danny Jay Branam, Jr. face felony murder charges following the death of Brooklyn Stinnett. Stinnett, 22, also faces one count of Child Neglect, while 23 year-old Branam was charged with Aggravated Child Abuse.

Authorities arrested Stinnett on Wednesday, while Branam was already behind bars on unrelated charges. They are each being held on $500,000 bond.

Brooklyn died a few days after being rushed to UT Medical Center responding to reports she was unresponsive and not breathing.

bam-bam: And who exactly are you? It's easy to say nasty things when you're anonymous. I'm Carl's little sister. That's who I am. And I think *you* weren't raised right if you're online posting nasty things about a grieving family you clearly know personally.

My favorite sexist comments: "its not the dads fault at all" "thats a moms job" "I feel like it is more the mothers fault" "She always jumped from one guy to another." From what I hear it certainly was Branum's fault. Your statements are based on numerous sexist/classist assumptions of parents. Fathers are just as capable of being primary caregivers as mothers are. Why should we expect them to behave like animals? Mothers do not have to constantly guard their kittens from prowling tomcats. It was physically Branum's hands on the child. Also, get over your shock that not every single woman loves her child unconditionally. Maternal instinct is a myth. We are all human. And Sheila, for bringing up the mother's sexual activity, you deserve the Most Backwards Tennessean of the Year Award. I mean really, that was quite dumb.
