BLUFF CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- A northeastern Tennessee man has been charged with shooting and killing his stepfather.
Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson says 31-year-old Michael Heath is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Anderson said Heath didn't try to flee after the shooting Sunday, instead sat in a chair and waited for officers.
Dispatchers received a call about a shooting at 4:34 a.m. EDT Sunday from Melinda Depew of Bluff City. Officers found David Depew dead inside and several shell casings from a .25-automatic. Anderson says the handgun appears to have been used in the shooting.
Anderson says since 2000, deputies have been called out to Depew's home at least nine times for domestic disputes
Heath was being held Monday in the Sullivan County Correctional Facility without bond.
