Nurse arrested for TennCare fraud

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A licensed practical nurse was arrested on Wednesday for TennCare fraud and illegally obtaining a controlled substance, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said on Thursday.

Kelly McCarter, 32, of Greenback was indicted on four counts of TennCare Fraud and four counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud by the Knox Co. Grand Jury on Sept. 27.

She is accused of obtaining prescriptions under clients' names for her personal use while working as a nurse at the Helen Ross McNabb Center on West Springdale between June 2010 and October 2010.

She was booked into the Knox Co. Detention Facility on a $5,000 bond.

    These kind of people need stiffer sentences. $5000??? They know what they are doing is wrong. She went into the proffesion to HELP people. This is why the government is so bad!!!
