SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevierville Police Dept. teamed up with Pigeon Forge Police Dept. and the Sevier Co. Sheriff's Office to arrest a suspect believed to have stolen more than $6,000 worth of merchandise from a home on Apple Valley Rd. in Sevieville, the SPD reported.

Twenty-four year-old Roy R. Herron was arrested Monday night and has been charged with burglary. Among the items he's accused of stealing is an AR-15 rifle and a handgun.

Reports indicate an SPD officer was alerted to suspicious activity along Apple Valley Rd. around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. The officer located one resident who told him someone was in his home, while another person told him a man had asked to use his phone because his vehicle had broken down.

After determining the suspect was no longer in the area, police tracked the call he place to a Motel 6 in Pigeon Forge. When they arrived at the hotel, officers learned the suspect may be at a Pigeon Forge Krystal's restaurant..

When members of the Pigeon Forge Police Dept. and the SPD arrived at the fast-food restaurant, Herron reportedly tried to escape, but was quickly captured. Authorities found the stolen guns nearby.
