KNOX COUNTY, Tenn.(WVLT) -- The Knox Co. Sheriff's Office identified the man killed in a shooting in northwest Knox Co. Thursday morning. Christopher Eledge was reportedly shot several times around 7 a.m. at a home in the 9300 block of Wells Station Rd.
The man who lived there, James Szczuka, 49, told police he shot Eledge after finding him asleep with his girlfriend in her bed. Szczuka claims when he woke Eledge up, Eledge became aggressive and threatening.
According to Szczuka, when Eldege refused to leave, he retrieved a .40 caliber handgun for protection. Szczuka says he shot Eledge when the 40 year-old came at him.
Authorities have also question Szczuka's girlfriend, 24 year-old Dena Harris.
Police have not filed any charges against Szczuka.
Eledge had a lengthy criminal history in Knox County dating back to 1997. His offenses range from DUI, traffic violations, aggravated burglary, assault, possession of legend drug without prescription, theft, and reckless endangerment. According to detectives, Eledge had just been released from the state prison in Rutherford County on Sunday.
