Police identify man shot while in bed with with another man's girlfriend

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn.(WVLT) -- The Knox Co. Sheriff's Office identified the man killed in a shooting in northwest Knox Co. Thursday morning. Christopher Eledge was reportedly shot several times around 7 a.m. at a home in the 9300 block of Wells Station Rd.

The man who lived there, James Szczuka, 49, told police he shot Eledge after finding him asleep with his girlfriend in her bed. Szczuka claims when he woke Eledge up, Eledge became aggressive and threatening.

According to Szczuka, when Eldege refused to leave, he retrieved a .40 caliber handgun for protection. Szczuka says he shot Eledge when the 40 year-old came at him.

Authorities have also question Szczuka's girlfriend, 24 year-old Dena Harris.

Police have not filed any charges against Szczuka.

Eledge had a lengthy criminal history in Knox County dating back to 1997. His offenses range from DUI, traffic violations, aggravated burglary, assault, possession of legend drug without prescription, theft, and reckless endangerment. According to detectives, Eledge had just been released from the state prison in Rutherford County on Sunday.

    R.I.P Chris!!! To a good guy and a gentelman. I send my best reguards to the Eledge family. We all know Bobbie is looking down upon us. Please be respectful of this family. Think of your own at a time like this. Chris was a son,brother,father and a friend to all. I am better for knowing him. You will be missed.

    If you can't read this without Having something negative to say about the reporter then stop!! It never says anything about " he woke up and went and found the guy asleep in his girlfriends bed" It says " he woke up the deceased in his girlfriends bed" He probably came home from work and found the guy in bed with his girlfriend!!! WOW!!

    Two things: 1) if he was in his own home, he does not need to have a permit for the gun. You have a right to keep and bear arms in your own home without having a permit. So what is the point of pointing out that he has a permit? I assume that whoever the reporter is just doesn't know the difference. Second, does anyone else find it strange that this guy woke up and went to his girlfriend's bedroom? What's that all about?
