'Peeping Tom' suspect a registered sex offender

WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A man suspected in a Peeping Tom case in White Pine, Jefferson County, has been arrested by police.

White Pine police say David Ray Light of Morristown, a registered sex offender, was arrested Sunday morning around 12:30 after an anonymous tip. Light, 60, was arrested at his home on Halifax Circle and faces charges for two counts of unlawful photography that invades privacy.

He is being held at the Jefferson County jail. The Hamblen County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest.

Police say Light is suspected of making his way into a woman's public restroom and trying to take pictures or videos with his cell phone. Witnesses told police a man caught in surveillance video hid in the bathroom stalls at the Pilot Travel Center at Exit 4 on Interstate 81.

Witnesses told police a man caught in surveillance video hid in the bathroom stalls at the Pilot Travel Center at Exit 4 on Interstate 81. That's in White Pine, Jefferson County.

The women said he tried to use his cell phone to take pictures or videos while they were in the restroom. The man is described as a white male wearing a gray T-shirt, blue jeans and an orange hat or visor.

The suspect left the bathroom after being confronted by a woman and then got away in a red Jeep Wrangler. If you have any information, please call the White Pine Police at 674 - 7771.
