Plant thieves caught on camera in Bearden

Two thieves were caught on camera breaking into the garden area at Ace Bearden Thursday night.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two thieves were caught on camera breaking into the garden area at Ace Bearden Thursday night.

The surveillance video shows a man and woman pulling up to the back of the store in a minivan around 10:30 p.m.

Ace employees say the couple cut the chain that secures the gate to the garden center. They loaded about $2,000 worth of plants, including tropical plants and ferns, into their van before driving off.

The entire theft took about 13 minutes.

Ace Bearden reported the burglary to Knoxville Police.
