KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville man says he was stabbed late Thursday knife after a neighbor pulled out a knife during an and threatened his girlfriend, according to the Knoxville Police Dept. The victim, Carl Trentham, Jr., was conscious and alert when he was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect, James Rochester, was found in his home and was arrested without incident. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one for threatening to cut Trentham's girlfriend, Jennifer McElroy, and one for cutting Trentham.
McElroy told investigators Trentham and Rochester had been drinking together all night and she asked them to stop. The three of them began arguing and McElroy was asked to go home. That's when, McElroy claims, the argument escalated and demanded Rochester leave.
Both McElroy and Trentham claim Rochester then pulled out a knife and threatened to cut McElroy. When Trentham tried intervening he was stabbed in the upper abdomen.
