KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Metro Nashville Police say a fatal shooting came as two men prepared to shoplift from a supermarket.
Aaron Mealer, who was 21 years old, was shot in the face as he sat in his car outside a Kroger store late Wednesday. Also in the car were 20-year-old Kenyatta Patton, Mealer's wife and another woman, according to The Tennessean.
Patton told police he and Mealer planned to shoplift from the store and a gun he was holding discharged as he got out of the car, killing Mealer.
Police charged Patton with criminal homicide. The women in the car were not charged.
