NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Nashville say a man who stole an all-terrain vehicle then ran over another man with it as police chased him.
An off-duty police officer saw 21-year-old Kevin Beasley run a traffic signal on an ATV, which a radio check revealed had been stolen. Two officers gave chase and said Beasley ran over 43-year-old Arvid Todd, who was sitting in the grass. Officers say Beasley then backed up the vehicle and ran over Todd a second time, critically injuring him. Police said Beasley told officers he didn't know Todd, but was trying to kill him. Both men are believed to be homeless.
Beasley is charged with attempted criminal homicide, theft and driving without a license.
Davidson County Jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.
