KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville man was arrested Sunday night after reportedly telling police he was robbed by a man with a knife who cut him then knocked him out. After following a blood trail from where officers met with the man, police interviewed him again at the hospital, where he admitted he was "drunk and did something stupid."
Police found John Morris, Jr., lying on the ground in the 1700-block of Tennessee shortly after 7:00 p.m. Police said after he told the officer his story about the robbery, the officer followed blood trail down the street to an abandoned home, where he found a broken window with a piece of a log sticking through it.
Authorities believe Morris tried to break in through the window, but fell and cut his wrist and hit his head on some fallen tree branches.
Morris was charged with Filing a False Police Report and Public Intoxication after he was released from the hospital. Police expect to file more charges after they complete their investigation.
