ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Deputies with the Hawkins Co. Sheriff's Office discovered what appear to be the remains of a dead infant, according to Sheriff Ronnie Lawson.

Lawson said his office responded to reports of the possible body of a child near Rogersville on Friday. There they found the remains and sent them for autopsy to determine the child's sex, age, and cause of death.

Lawson said T.B.I. and the District Attorney's office have joined in the ongoing investigation.
