Remains from Signal Mountain confirmed

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A medical examination has confirmed that remains found on Signal Mountain were those of a woman who disappeared seven months before her vehicle was found.

The badly wrecked Jeep that Gail Palmgren was driving when she ran off the road near her home last spring was removed from a steep slope on Monday.

The vehicle was spotted from the air Thursday. Skeletal remains found the same day were confirmed on Monday to be those of the 44-year-old Palmgren, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Investigators will examine the Jeep to try to reconstruct why Palmgren ran off the road on April 30, the last day she was seen alive. A large rock the vehicle struck was also hauled away to be examined.
