Crimetracker: Repeat DUI offender sends KCSO on high speed chase

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- According to the initial investigation, an officer with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a 1995 black Ford Mustang on Kingston Pike at Cavette Hill.

After the officer approached the vehicle, the driver, 40-year-old William Ferguson III, sped off and knocked the officer to the ground.

A pursuit ensued from Kingston Pike to Campbell Station Road and then to I-40 and I-75 South. Ferguson took exit 62 in Monroe County, and his vehicle spun out in the median and stopped around 12:36 a.m.

He is charged with reckless driving, three counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, driving on a revoked license, resisting arrest and his 8th DUI offense.

His bond amount is unknown at this time.
