CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Chattanooga police officer accused of pulling a Taser after a road rage incident has been placed on leave pending an investigation.
A police report shows that the policeman, 37-year-old Gregory Chambers, was off duty Saturday and had an argument after a motorist encounter.
Police Chief Bobby Dodd told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that after the investigation is finished Chambers will be placed on personal leave pending his Jan. 5 court appearance.
The report shows that after the motorist encounter and an exchange of phone calls, the officer drove up at the residence and said he went for his Taser when he encountered a man carrying a baseball bat.
Chambers was released on his own recognizance. Court records do not show that he has hired a lawyer.
