BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The sentencing hearing for a former priest convicted of raping an altar boy has been postponed in Blountville.
William Casey was originally scheduled for sentencing Tuesday on his July convictions on aggravated rape and sexual misconduct charges, dating to when he was a priest at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport in the 1970s.
The court postponed the sentencing to Oct. 7 after attorneys told the judge there were issues they had not been able to address, according to The Kingsport Times-News.
He was convicted of raping Warren Tucker of Jeffersonville, Ind., when Tucker was 13 and 14 years old.
The Associated Press does not routinely identify victims of sex crimes, but identified Tucker because he went public with the allegations.
