Suspected Sevierville bank robber arrested, identified

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevierville Police Dept. has identified the man it believes robbed the Mountain National Bank, 2140 Winfield Dunn Parkway, shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

William J. Tucker was arrested on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.

Employees told police a man handed the teller a note, which stated he had a weapon and demanded money. After getting the cash, they said he took off in a white Nissan Pathfinder.

Less than an hour later, an officer spotted the SUV on Gists Creek Rd. with four people in it, including Tucker. Tucker was arrested and taken to Sevier County Jail.

Authorities did not recover a weapon, but did find some of the cash.

They are continuing to investigate and are getting help from the Knoxville Police Dept. and the FBI. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the SPD at 865-453-5506.

    Me and my sister and her baby went there to get her money outta the bank,And the police officer told us to back away cuz somthing had happened. I was kinda scared.
