Sevierville man charged with rape of teen

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Sevier Co. Sheriff's Office said a Sevierville man was arrested in connection with a rape of teenager who lived his neighborhood.

The fifteen year-old victim told police she had previously met Daniel T. Sargent, 21. The girl told police that Sargent crawled into her window last Thursday night and attacked her.

Detectives found Sargent pulling up to a nearby home on Patricia Holt Dr. Sargent took off running and was captured without incident.

Authorities said they took Sargent to the Sheriff's Office where he gave incriminating statements to detectives.

Sargent has been charged with one count of Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Burglary. He has a court date set for September 26.
