SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevierville was arrested on Monday following convenience store robbery the previous Friday, according to Sevier Co. Sheriff Ron Seals.
Michael E. Hopper was charged with Aggravated Robbery in addition to the outstanding warrants for which he was originally arrested. Seals added that, while in custody, Hopper gave statements incriminating himself in the robbery.
Seals explained authorities a deputy spotted a blue and silver truck that looked like the one in surveillance video. In it, they reportedly found incriminating evidence which led them to Hopper.
On Friday, Hopper allegedly walked into the Dynamite Quick-mart, 2093 Chapman Hwy., and handed the cashier a note stating he was armed and demanding money. He then took off on foot.
The robber was described as a 6' tall man, weighing around 200 to 220 lbs., wearing a UT sweatshirt, work boots, and orange gloves. He also covered his face with a cloth.
When officers went down the road to a nearby market, they learned a man matching that description bought a pair of orange gloves right before the robbery. Surveillance video from that store captured him leaving in the Chevrolet truck.
