Sex offender caught at library days after new ban announced

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A convicted sex offender was arrested at a Knox Co. Library late Thursday morning, just days after a Knox Co. Libraries ban on registered sex offenders was announced, the Knoxville Police Dept. confirmed.

David Michael Jarnigan, Jr. was caught at the downtown library around 11:00 a.m. He was charged with a Sexual Offender Registry Reporting Violation, a Class E Felony.

Another person at the library was also detained and interviewed on an unrelated case, police added, nut he has since been released.
