Sexual battery charge for Shelby County detective

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a Shelby County detective has been charged with sexual battery on a 22-year-old woman.

Shelby County's sheriff's office says Detective James Bishof met with a female defendant in a domestic assault case and said he could help with her case.

Officials say he took her into a bathroom in a government building and took pictures of private areas of her body. Bishof then allegedly went to her home and shot pictures of the undressed woman while making sexual comments and touching her.

Bishof was relieved of duty pending an investigation. He was arrested July 28 and charged with aggravated sexual battery, sexual battery by an authority figure and official oppression.

Court records show Bishof paid a $50,000 bond, but they don't indicate if he has a lawyer.
