Seymour pizza shop robbed shortly before lunchtime Tuesday

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Authorities are searching for the man who robbed a Seymour restaurant shortly before lunchtime on Tuesday.

An employee at a Little Ceasar's Pizza, 11212 Chapman Hwy., called police just before 11:30 a.m. saying the store had been robbed, according to the Sevier Co. Sheriff's Office.

Workers told deputies that a man walked into the store, lifted his shirt to reveal a weapon, and ordered the clerk to open the register. He grabbed the money and left.

The suspect was described as having gray hair, wearing a purple turtleneck, dark colored dress slacks, a ball cap, and sunglasses. He reportedly took off toward Knoxville in a silver Mercury minivan.

Sevier Co. Sheriff Ron Seals said a man with the same description also robbed a hair salon on John Sevier Hwy. earlier in the day.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Sevier County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigation Division at 865-428-1899
