KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knoxville police are investigating a reported shooting and robbery at a north Knoxville home shortly after midnight Thursday morning.
The victim, Edgar Cantrell, 45, told authorities a female friend of his called him asking to borrow some money and said she was right outside of his home, 196 Chickamauga Avenue.
When Cantrell opened the door, three or four men rushed in. He said they were all wearing black and had handguns. Cantrell was shot once in the torso, police said. He was taken to UT Medical Center with what was described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said they were following several leads on the suspects.
