JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department identified the man found dead in his Chuckey Pike home as William Buchanan, 68.
Buchanan's son Scott and friend Sam Kaiser found him when they went to go check on him after not hearing from him.
"We walked inside and he was laying in there dead," Kaiser said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and TBI are investigating the case as a homicide, and are waiting on the autopsy results.
Sheriff G.W. "Bud" McCoig said this isn't the first time they've been called out to the home.
"This past year, we have worked a home invasion at the same location, McCoig said.
Deputies arrested three people in connection to the home invasion, one of them a juvenile. Their motive? Pills.
"He was on some medication and had health issues and the medication that he was on, unfortunately, is what a lot of people are addicted to in this county right now," McCoig said.
McCoig said there is no connection between the robbery and the murder at this time. But whoever killed him could have been looking for the same thing.
