Stabbing victim assaults hospital staff

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Police are trying to figure out the real identity of a man who got stabbed during a fight, then assaulted UT Medical Center staff.

Officers got called to 300 E. Oklahoma Avenue close to 9 Wednesday night.

When they got there, they found a man who had been stabbed outside of the apartments. Police say he started being combative and didn't cooperate with them. Crews took him to UT Medical Center, where he assaulted the medical staff.

He's now charged with assault and underage consumption. Police think he's 19 years old, but they're still trying to confirm his real identity.

Knoxville police say he was fighting with 23 year old Ronnie Turner, when Turner pulled a knife and cut the other man. Turner also has other outstanding warrants in Knox County.

Police are still investigating what happened and if other charges will be placed against Turner.
