Suspected prowler drowns in Memphis harbor

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis police have identified the body of a man believed to have been a prowler who jumped into a harbor bordering the Mississippi River after a resident threatened to call authorities.

The harbor patrol found the body of 24-year-old Claude Burkette in the river about 8:50 a.m. Saturday, The Commercial Appeal reported.

About six hours earlier, police received a call saying a suspected prowler had jumped into the Wolf River Harbor marina.
