JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Two Jefferson City officers shot and killed a knife-wielding suspect on Monday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The name of the suspect is being withheld pending the notification of a next of kin. The TBI added it does not release the names of officers involved in the shootings.
The shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. after officers were called to 1026 Martha Glass Drive on reports of a man threatening another man with a knife.
The suspect reportedly refused the officers commands to put down the knife and advanced toward them. That's when the two officers fired.
The suspect was taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital where he later died. His body will be taken to UT Forensic Center for an autopsy.
