TBI probing allegation against probation officer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is probing whether a Knox County probation officer took a payoff.

TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm confirmed on Thursday that the agency is investigating allegations against Probation Officer Alex Ragland, according to The Associated Press.

Helm says Knox County prosecutor Randy Nichols asked the state agency to investigate whether the officer accepted cash to overlook probation violations by a criminal who reported to him.

The AP was unable to reach Ragland for comment and. Knox County Probation Director Tara Richardson did not return a phone.

The agency monitors misdemeanor probationers.

These are only allegations made by a CRIMINAL.Why is the press so eager to publish this story and publicly humiliate this man and his family? Knox News pritnted the paper about this before TBI even knew about it. Please explain to me the reasoning behind this media bullying. If this criminal offered Mr. Ragland money to have a "smooth probation" and he took it, why didn't Mr. Ragland also do the same for his other clients, even his family? This whole story proves to be false . The story doesn't add up. This criminal is broke, where would he find the money to pay off? Sounds like he's mad because he was violated by Mr. Ragland so he came up with a bogus story( I'm astound that The News Sentinel and officials actually believed it). The news printed that story before investigation, announced his salary, and even used a pic of this man thats makes him look like a criminal. Unprofessional. The story is false & they don't care. How far do you go for a good story?
