HENDERSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A Chester County High School English teacher has been charged with sex crimes involving a student.
Amy Lynn Howell was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Henderson and was released from jail on $10,000 bond, according to The Jackson Sun.
Howell -- who is 37 -- is charged with statutory rape by an authority figure and sexual battery by an authority figure.
Chester County School Superintendent Cherrie Pipkin said she was told a teacher and a student were sexually involved and she immediately reported the allegation to the county sheriff's office. Howell has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of charges against her.
The Sun reported it was unable to reach Howell for comment Thursday night.
