Crimetracker: Teens busted for three robberies over two hours

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Three teens were arrested for a string of robberies that happened over a two-hour span in downtown Knoxville Sunday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.

Authorities say the trio first struck near Lake Ave. around 12:30 a.m. They reportedly stopped a man walking back to his dorm, demanding money and his cell phone. Then, just after 2:00 a.m., they held up a man and woman near Reese Hall, again taking money and cell phones. Finally, about 20 minutes later, they robbed a man in a in a business parking lot off Cumberland Ave.

Shortly after the third robbery, they were spotted near 16th Street and Clinch Ave. Two of them were caught on the spot, while the third suspect ran away. Officers rounded him up minutes later.

The victims belongings were recovered.

All three were charged with three counts of robbery and taken to the juvenile detention facility. One of the victims from the second robbery refused to press charges.
