MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A death row inmate convicted of killing a couple in the Memphis suburb of Bartlett has been indicted in Florida in the death of a 19-year-old man.

Henry Lee Jones, 48, was indicted Tuesday in Brevard County, Fla., in the stabbing and strangulation of Carlos Perez at a motel in Melbourne, according to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/oISNV1).

The slaying happened just days after Jones killed Clarence and Lillian James, who were found stabbed, bound and strangled in separate rooms of their home on Aug. 23, 2003.

Perez was found dead on Aug. 27, 2003, in a Melbourne motel room with multiple knife wounds and ligature marks on his neck. Jones was arrested on Sept. 17, 2003 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and charged with the James murders

The Shelby County Criminal Court jury that convicted Jones in May 2009 gave him two death sentences after learning that he also was the prime suspect in the similar murder of Perez.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt of Viera, Fla., said the state may seek the death penalty in Perez's case, though that decision has not been made.

"We have a victim here and family members who deserve the prosecution of the case despite the case he (Jones) has in Tennessee," Hunt said.
