Tennessee man convicted in 1982 Illinois killing

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) -- A Lake County jury has convicted a Tennessee man in a 28-year-old suburban Chicago slaying.

Authorities say 71-year-old Robert Bostic of Kingston, Tenn., was convicted Thursday of shooting 31-year-old Carlton Richmond to death in June 1982. The shooting happened in a garage that was used as a clubhouse by a motorcycle club.

Bostic was arrested in January in Tennessee and waived extradition. Jurors deliberated for three hours before finding him guilty of killing Richmond because he couldn't pay $500 that he owed Bostic.

Bostic faces up to 60 years in prison.

Round Lake Beach is about 45 miles north of Chicago.
