Toddler wanders off after babysitter falls asleep

ROCKWOOD, Tenn. (WVLT) - A toddler is back home tonight after wandering off while his babysitter was asleep.

Neighbors found the child walking in the middle of East Evans Road near his home in Rockwood. He was wearing only a t-shirt and jeans.

Officers picked the child up and began searching for his parents. Rockwood Police Chief Bill Stinnett says they searched less than an hour, "About 40 minutes later, they found the residence of the caretaker for this young boy was found to be asleep. Apparently he didn't realize the child was out of the house."

Police went back to the home to arrest the babysitter, James Saylor. Saylor is a family friend who had been watching the child the past month.

He was not there when officers went back. If you know where he is, call the Rockwood Police.

The only reason WVLT even knew about this was because someone from Rockwood wanted to be on the news if they found the child that was missing. The little blurb this warranted it was nice that the WVLT car was in Rockwood for 6 hours when he was found before he even got to Rockwood.

HE was not mistreated the news just told enough to make not only the parents bad but the guy watching them. Trust me had the babysitter been awake and this happened he would have been all over that neighborhood looking for him til he found him. I am thankful that he was okay. I just hate that this happened to my friends.
