Traffic stop ends in chase in Blount County

The Blount County Sheriff says a career criminal is off the streets, but it took at chase.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Blount County Sheriff says a career criminal is off the streets, but it took a chase.

It was a team effort by K-9 units, Knox County Aviation units and locking down Rockford Elementary to catch Matthew Ryan Sherwood.

He was in a car deputies pulled over on Little River Road in Rockford; he got out and ran. Deputies caught him about an hour later and the school lock down was lifted.

Sherwood was wanted for many charges including felony aggravated burglary. More charges are expected.
