MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A July 25 trial has been set for a woman charged in the shooting death of a county election commission chairman whose body was found in the trunk of his burning car in East Tennessee.
A judge Monday in Monroe County appointed a new attorney for Jessica Kennedy of Sweetwater.
Kennedy, also known as Kennedy-Powers, is charged in the robbery and shooting of 60-year-old Monroe County Election Commission Chairman Jim Miller of Madisonville. Miller's body was found July 17.
A prosecutor told The Knoxville News Sentinel that officials "are investigating other persons."
The 27-year-old Kennedy is being held on a $500,000 bond, charged with felony murder, aggravated robbery, arson of personal property and abuse of a corpse.
Her attorney, Shari Tayloe Young of Cleveland, did not return a telephone message.
