KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A late night robbery at a Knoxville sports bar lands two men behind bars minutes after they allegedly stole a woman's purse at knife point, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.
Jason Lamar Waldrop, 36, and Timothy Rutherford, 27, were charged with Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Aggravated Robbery. Waldrop also racked up Possession Schedule IV, DUI, Implied Consent, and No Proof of Insurance charges and is being held on $20,000 bond; while Rutherford was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and is being held on $18,5000 bond.
The victims told police they were in the parking lot of Bailey's Sports Grill, 250 N. Seven Oaks Dr., shortly before midnight on Thursday when a gray Hummer pulled up next to them. They said a man jumped out of the passenger side, jammed a knife into the man's ribs, and demanded the woman's purse. After getting the wallet, the suspect got back into the SUV and took off.
Not long afterwords, police said they got a 911 call about a gray Hummer driving erratically on I-40 near West Hills. An officer pulled the SUV over on Western Ave. and found the victim's credit cards on the front seat and a folding knife.
