KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- More than a month after he fired his gun in the busy Knoxville hotel parking lot, a Union Co. deputy has been fired, Union Co. Sheriff Junior Loy confirmed on Tuesday.
Kelly Yount was fired last Friday following an investigation into the August 25 shooting. Yount had claimed he was robbed and was shooting at the attackers as they drove off.
Three people were arrested in connection with the robbery. Yount was not charged with any crime.
Loy refused to go into the details of the investigation which resulted in Yount's dismissal, only saying the determination to fire him resulted from the "totality of the circumstances."
