HENDERSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Chester County authorities have charged the parents of a baby with murder in the child's starvation death.
Stephanie McCarley and Devin Jay Davis were arraigned Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse. They are held in lieu of $250,000 bond each, according to The Jackson Sun.
The 6-month-old baby, Clever McCarley, died April 21 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A police affidavit states a coroner's report concluded the baby died of starvation and listed the death as a homicide.
Public Defender George Googe's office will represent McCarley. Googe says the office just received the case and hasn't met with McCarley.
A private attorney was being appointed for Davis.
