KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman Monday afternoon after a short car chase.
Around 2:40 Monday afternoon, a deputy recognized a car stolen earlier in the morning from a convenience store on Central Avenue Pike. Officers say the car was speeding and weaving through heavy traffic on I-40.
The woman, who was driving, exited on Gallaher View with the officer pursuing her to Middlebrook Pike.
The chase ended on Papermill Drive when other officers boxed in the car and the woman was taken into custody. The incident had traffic on Papermill Drive blocked for almost an hour.
The car was stolen when it was left in front of the Weigel’s with the engine running about 9 a.m. as the owner ran into the store for a few minutes.
The suspect's name has not been released.
