Woman charged in hot grease attack on husband

DECHERD, Tenn. (AP) -- A southern Tennessee woman charged with pouring hot grease on her sleeping husband told an investigator she had caught her husband cheating on her months ago and she was tired of it.

Her husband of 16 years, Jason Martin, was taken to the Vanderbilt Medical Center burn unit with severe burns on the upper half of his body.

Thirty-eight-year-old Mary Annette Martin of Decherd was charged with aggravated domestic assault and aggravated assault after an officer responded to the Franklin County residence Sunday. She is free on bond pending a hearing. Police and court clerks said there is no record of her having a lawyer.

She told police that her husband was asleep and that she went in the kitchen, heated a pan of grease and threw it on him.
