Wallet Wednesday: Planning a cost-friendly day with family

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Maybe some of you are looking to get out and about in town but don't want to spend a lot of money.

In this week's Wallet Wednesday we're finding family friendly free (say that 5 times fast) activities.

If you download Visit Knoxville's app, you'll find a whole section that allows you to check out what's free in town. It can even help you plan out your day.

"Not everybody has a ton of money and if you have a family of more than 3 people things start to get really expensive. So you want to try and find that thing that's free for everybody so maybe you can eat downtown," said Erin Donovan with Visit Knoxville.

You can park in a free lot, take a free trolley and visit a free museum with the family.

The free events include live music Monday through Saturday at noon at the downtown visitor's center.

The Girl Scout Museum in located in West Knoxville.

There are kid friendly museums you can visit as well.
