Behind the Kitchen Door

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Four restaurants failed their inspections, according to the Knox Co. Health Dept., in this week's Behind the Kitchen Door.

Del Potosi Bakery, 3709 Chapman Hwy., scored the lowest with a 63. Inspectors saw a cook couching while preparing food, no bleach was being used, an employee was drinking from an open cup, and wastewater leaking.

Chez Guevera, 8025 Kingston Pike, received a 65. Inspectors reported an employee didn't wash his or her hands, there were dented food cans, a wastewater leak, and mold on the ice machine.

O'Charley's. 117 Cedar Lane, also got a 65 after inspectors noticed the to-go cups were stored beside chemicals, a wastewater leak, and toxic chemicals.

Finally, The Pint House, 815 Merchants Drive, came in with a 67 when inspectors saw flies in the kitchen, the handsink was blocked, there was no mop sink, toxic chemicals, and build up in the equipment.

Not all the news was bad, though. Twelve restaurants scored above ninety, including:

Rack and Run, 8705 Unicorn Dr., 95
Kentucky Fried Chicken, 4200 Chapman Hwy., 95
Five Guys, 7531 Barrett Way, 96
Salsarita's 100 Jack Dance Dr., 96
