Behind the Kitchen Door

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- One of the city's most famous dining establishments and another brand-new restaurant were among those that failed in this week's Behind the Kitchen Door.

The Orangery, 5412 Kingston Pike, earned a 66 this week after inspectors found homemade mayonnaise and chicken salad at unsafe temperatures, mice droppings in the storage area, toxic chemicals, and a wastewater leak.

Wok Chow, 4612 Kingston Pike, was given a 67 in its first inspection. They were cited for dented cans, toxic chemicals, sanitizer in dish machine, and unlabeled containers.

Finally, the McDonald's at 5260 Millertown Pike received a 69 when inspectors found a cook not washing their hands, no sanitizer in the rag bucket, a clothes washer in the kitchen, the cooks' aprons were dirty.

On the other side of the spectrum, Arby's, 2759 Schaad Rd., earned a 90. Taco Bell, 6504 Chapman Hwy., and Papa Murphy's, 5214 Broadway, received 91's, while the Line-Up, 6547 Chapman Hwy.., and Dinner A'Fare, 138 West End Ave., were given 93's. Topping the list was Roberto's Italian Ice, Phillip Fulmer Way, which got a 98.
