KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Three restaurants failed their inspections this week, according to the Knox County Health Dept., in this week's look Behind the Kitchen Door.
Outback, 330 Peters Road, earned the lowest score this week, 63, after inspectors found no hot water in the men's room, toxic chemicals that were not stored properly, knives in the handsink, and dirty shelves and floors.
Q Q Pizza, 7002 Maynardville Hwy., was given a 68. Inspectors threw out two gallons of soft serve which was stored at unsafe temperatures. They also discovered no hot water in the handsink, meat thawing at room temperature, and dough stored in trash bags.
Finally, McDonald's, 5260 Millertown Pike, earned a 69 after inspectors saw a cook touch raw meat then cooked meat with washing his/her hands, a food worker who had painted fingernails, and dirty equipment.
On the other side of the coin, eight restaurants passed with flying colors, scoring 90 or higher this week.
