Barbequed Green Beans Tuesday, June 24, 2014


A recipe which Shirley Nash-Pitts gave me

3 cans cut green beans, drained
5 slices bacon
½ cup onion, chopped
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup ketchup


Drain beans and spread in a 3 quart casserole. Fry bacon and crumble and reserve. Save grease. Add onion to grease and cook until starts to soften. Add brown sugar and ketchup and cook until sugar dissolves. Pour mixture over beans and cook in a preheated 325 deg oven about 2 hours, uncovered. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over top at the end of baking and serve.
